The Zoo and Tanaka Farms

Monday, June 28, 2010

We have passes to the local zoo and have visited a couple of times. While the zoo is known for their monkeys, there is also a little farm with farm animals. Logan loved petting the goats, but Charlotte was totally freaked out by them. She wanted to be held the whole time and told us, "no, no, no" if we got to close to the goats and sheep. We just got a couple of pictures ...

Making friends with a goat.

Charlotte stayed far away from the goats. She loves to sit in chairs, the bigger the better.

Last week we took a tour of Tanaka Farms, a local farm that grows organic produce. We got to take a tour of the farm in a wagon pulled by a tractor. We sampled "just picked" carrots, beans, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, and sweet corn. The best part was when we got to pick our own strawberries at the end of the tour. They were perhaps the best strawberries I have ever tasted! The best part was that everything was organic and we ate it right off the plant. Definitely go visit Tanaka Farms. They have watermelon tours starting this week.

Tasting beans.

Friends Jill, Abby and Whitney joined us on the tour.

Charlotte is a strawberry picker.

Logan tastes a juicy strawberry. (He was actually more interested in a carrot he gnawed on for most of the trip).

Charlotte ate a lot of berries. There were lots of stains on her shirt to prove it.

June Pics

Friday, June 25, 2010

Here are some pictures from late May and early June. We hope to put up some pictures of our new house soon. We are getting settled and we're really enjoying the neighborhood. We enjoy going to the park near our house and taking walks around the lake. There are lots of ducks, geese, and turtles there. The neighbors have been really friendly and there are lots of kids around.

Dad Grant, our plumbing expert. He helped us a lot with our new house.

The manly moving crew on moving day.

Kevin and Logan relaxing together

Shopping at Living Spaces for new furniture. Logan and Charlotte thought it was like Disneyland.

Cuddling together

Checking out the new sand and water table.

Logan waters the yard for us. No need for sprinklers.

Logan and Charlotte are in robes since they got so wet playing outside in the water. These are the same robes they wore as newborns and they still (sort of) fit.

Helping Daddy plant an avocado tree. He also planted a pomegranate tree. Of course I had to plant a hydrangea. They always die on me when they are in pots but maybe I'll have better luck with them in our yard.
